Life isn't clear-cut, so the solution shouldn't be either. We're the hub everyone can turn to when they need individualized support plans with compassion and patience. Not only is our staff empathetic, but some have overcome similar obstacles. We collaborate, relate, and truly listen to find a solution that will make the most impact for women and their children.
Did you know that 33% of Quad Cities residents struggle to pay for their basic needs? YWCA Quad Cities Empowerment Center focuses on keeping families from going into a crisis situation. If a family is in need, YWCA’s Empowerment Services staff will create a plan to bring that family or individual out of the situation. The Center is designed to keep families and individuals out of poverty for good. With an immediate needs pantry, free community laundry, computers and printers, a vast resource library, and staff on hand to help support all clients, YWCA’s Empowerment Services strive to help those in the Quad-Cities struggling to make ends meet. At this time, Empowerment Services are provided at the Empowerment Center, located at 1115 Mississippi Ave, Davenport, IA 52803. All are welcome to access services, both Iowa and Illinois residents. Center hours are Monday - Thursday, 900am - 330pm. We ask that you schedule an appointment by calling us at (563) 340-0310. Please contact us to learn more.
The Empowerment Center provides the following services/programs:
- Clothing Closet, which contains all types of clothing for women, men and children
- Immediate Needs Pantry, which includes all types of shelf-stable food, cleaning & laundry supplies, feminine products, hygiene products for all, and baby items (food, formula, diapers, wipes)
- Learning Center, which offers access to computers, printers & wifi, continuing education programs offered free of charge, resume & job search assistance
- Community Laundry Room, which is an appointment based service that allows individuals to do their laundry free of charge. The laundry services are proudly sponsored by Bettendorf Rotary.
- Communit Showers, an appointment based service that provides free showers and hygiene items. This program is prodly sponsored by Ruhl&Ruhl Relators, Davenport & Bettendorf offices.
